Founder & Principal

Jill Sickle

After 23 years in the real estate industry, Jill founded Hanover Hamilton Investments, LLC (HHI) in 2013. HHI identifies well-located neighborhood apartment buildings in both the city and suburbs of Chicago that would benefit from meaningful rehab and repositioning.

In 1990, Jill began her real estate career at Hines – the international development company – where she led the development of a $110 million office tower and oversaw a five-city portfolio of office buildings totaling 7 million square feet. After Hines, Jill joined The Alter Group (a regional developer) and Jones Lang LaSalle.

Prior to the founding of Hanover Hamilton, Ms. Sickle was a principal at Syndicated Equities (2001 – 2012), a national private equity firm specializing in commercial real estate and Tenant in Common investments where she closed over 40 transactions (retail, parking, hotel and office) totaling in excess of $800 million. Assets ranged in size from small government tenanted office buildings ($3 million) to a Four Seasons Hotel ($125 million).

In 2012, after answering the question “what would I do if I could do anything”, Jill realized she wanted to continue her passion for real estate investing. Thinking through a 20-plus year career, spanning office development, and investing in hotels, office buildings, retail, and apartments (over 50 investments), Jill realized that her very best investment was a 12 unit building in the Bucktown neighborhood of Chicago in 1998. Through good cycles, the building greatly increased in value and, through bad cycles, the building was able to weather the storm with minor vacancy and minor changes to rents. With that realization, Jill founded HHI to focus on owning and operating well located neighborhood apartment buildings in Chicagoland.

Ms. Sickle is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Illinois. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University where she captained the Women's Tennis Team. Jill also received an MBA from The Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Jill lives in Chicago with her two sons and husband David, a real estate lawyer at DLA Piper. In her “spare time”, Jill plays tennis competitively. Jill has represented the United States in the 2015 and 2017 Maccabi/Maccabiah Games winning three silver medals. In 2014 and 2016, Jill was ranked among the top 10 Women Tennis Players over 50 years of age in the United States.
